I wouldn't mind having a cheap tablet of this size range to use for the (Android) TORQ app, but BT is a requirement. All the rest would be icing on the cake. And like everything else in the tech field, prices will come down...and certainly I have no pressing need for it anyway, just something else to play with.

The last use they showed in their link reminded me of this great commercial:

The irony is that the OS is better on the $38 tablet than the cripplecrap that $400 iPads run.

Never an opportunity missed.

I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't seen it coming.

I especially like the coaster option.

Better than a HOT PHONE.

Would love to see a Crestron or AMX app for this. It would open up home automation to a whole other group of people. iPad did this to some degree a few years ago ($99 app + cost of iPad vs. several thousand for a Crestron TP) but now days you could get this device, the app and an AV2 or QM processor for $150 or less.

It would be like $10,000 in technology back in 2005 and more power than the average AV home system could possibly use.

The trick however, would be getting someone to program the system.

I use iPhone and iPad apps to control pretty much all the AV (Sonos, Roku, Chrome, Apple TV, Amazon Echo, Cisco whole house DVR) in the house, as well as Insteon lighting and home security with cams. A unified controller would be nice, but not necessary.

But you're smarter than the average bear. Crestron and AMX were designed for operating convenience (and for idiots...).

idiots with lots of do-re-mi! :D

Luckily, the technology of those days, just a mere 10-15 years actually, is now affordable. I would love to have my Amazon Echo be the voice activated gateway to the rest of the house tech as it does its own little speaker. The Amazon SDK should make it easier for wider integration.

This was a poor choice of words, should be "or for idiots". I was not putting seekers of convenience in the same category as idiots... ;)

That's ok, E, I didn't mind being lumped in with MTI. :P:silly::D

(Who is clearly in the former in case the emoticons don't convey it!)
