What my calc professor sent us before last Thursday's exam.

Some of you on the board might appreciate this meme that my calc professor sent out to the class right before our first exam:

I told him it was mean :D. Ironically, the exam seemed to end up the "fairest" (in how it reflected the material he'd given us up 'til now) exam I've had from him so far.

That was great!

My college Physics professor used to say that the exam would cover only the material covered in class. But he told us that it wouldn't be spoon-fed, either and we might actually have to use our minds to apply theorems and formulas in ways different than the examples and problems he covered in class. He was a dynamite guy, though, his tests were always on Mondays and starting at 7 PM Sunday night he would be in the lecture hall to go over anything and answer any questions and he would stay until the students were finished asking. We were there until after midnight once.

That said, his tests were DEFINITELY tough. And he told us they were supposed to be, he wrote them so that the average student in the average class would get about 50%. He wanted people to be able to shine. But not to worry, if you got 50% that was at least a C (remember, average) and he certainly curved it if it turned out he stumped everyone.
