BBC Suspends Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson suspended live: BBC suspend Top Gear host "following a fracas" with a producer - Mirror Online

Interesting that he was given a "final warning" last year over a racial slur. TG is the BBC's premier show worldwide . . . stay tuned, so to speak.

And on that bombshell, i'm willing to bet he's not going anywhere. Top Gear is my favorite show! So at least I hope it works out. Me and my friends gather every Sunday at our friends house to watch it on a 60-70" flat screen with surround sound!

Skippy~ As for perception: Drive what you like and can afford. Those who don't like it can supply vacuum to one of your components. LOL

If you need parts, I have some!

Buried deep in the article above is the key: Clarkson was in talks to sign a new three year deal.

The rumor is Clarkson pulls down one million pounds (A year? An episode?) and since Top Gear is or is at least said to be the BBC's top money machine I am sure his Agent was pushing hard for a raise.

So the suits invoke a never used clause in his contract to sack him and then go around wringing their hands about how they hate to do it and blah, blah, blah....

Meanwhile they offer Clarkson less than what he was getting and tell him to take or find another network to be on. But wait! There are no other networks he could be on since he is a part of a team. Would one of the Three Stooges go off on their own and be a hit? Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis managed to pull it off, but it is not easy and at Clarkson's age it might be impossible.

So I look for him to be back and all will be forgiven when the BBC runs a few focus groups and finds they need him or the show will tank.

At least that's the way these things usually work.

He was either stupid enough to punch a show producer or he wasn't. If he did, then there is a price to be paid.

Been wondering if Clarkson's edge get to him, and looks like it finally has. Too bad his isn't so bright, especially if in contract stage. But, he seems to be the type to push to see how far he can get.

That is what it seems if it is true about the poem he recited. Oma was tired of hearing us say tiger, so in her proper way, explained what it really was, and we of course listened and stopped. I grew up in the 1960's like the kid in the bunker movie, so n*gro was the common word, which is simply Latin for black. Then folks got their panties in a wad! What the blank and a half happened to context? Folks need to quit being all pansy and sensitive, with this politically correct garbage, and say and experience reality!

You know, I was bullied through out school, even past High School, and very nasty things were said and done (including toilet papered with toilet paper from the toilet and getting beaten including a very severe concussion). But it made me stronger! I rather have someone be strait and sock it to me! Then I can get it through my thick skull and make the needed corrections!

I am sure Clarkson has a reason for his actions, and just bet he is just as frustrated folks can't accept he just likes to push the envelope and be himself!

This is show biz. There is a story in Hollywood about how Clark Gable once killed a guy when he was drunk. A studio executive was made the fall guy and a deal was cut with a Judge for the exec to spend ten years in a minimum security joint to keep Gable on the job. This may be true; this may not be true. But no one in the film business I have ever spoken to had any trouble believing it.

The question is not did Clarkson hit someone. The question is how much money did his last picture make?

And here's the real Gable story.

The moral to the story above is that money is the bottom line in show biz. You can kill someone and if there is enough money involved there is always a way to get around it.

For what Gable really hit.....

Jeremy Clarkson brushes off BBC decision to pull Top Gear | Media | The Guardian

According to the Daily Mirror, the producer involved in the dispute, said to have taken place after filming in Newcastle, was Oisin Tymon, 36.

The Mirror reported the alleged bust-up was over a lack of catering after on-location filming. “They came to the end of filming after a long day and Jeremy discovered that no food had been laid on.”

The presenter then “snapped”, the source added.

Considering the state of British cuisine, I would have snapped if they did provide food.

This would be a case of craft services not doing their job. Stars expect everything to run as it should. They do a professional job and have little tolerance for those that don't.

If 'snapped' is all he did then this is nothing but a contract ploy on the part of the BBC. I have seen Stars go into a full blown rage over something smaller than this and everyone expects them to do so if the job is not done right.

Time is money.

It was a great season so far. Such a shame. They also had Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren finally agree to a head to head race of their flagship vehicles.... also it was going to be a full 10 episode season, not some piddly 5 or 6 episode one.

I am fuming...

Now I am really bummed that I didn't watch!

Got a TV as a gift two and a half years ago, still in the box, in the closet. Can you get the show on regular air?
