Fastest gun in Idaho

Steve Koski, fastest shooter in Idaho. I shoot IDPA; about as fast as VW bug on the autobahn compared to this guy, a Grand Master. He's a hoot to watch.

Thats pretty damn good! Wow! I've been really wanting to get started in IDPA here. I would really like IPSC but I don't believe we have them in my area. I would love to get into 2-gun or 3-gun also. I really need some better guns for these things. Most of my gun collection is milsurp rifles. I have a Taurus 24/7 Pro .40S&W but I wouldn't call it reliable enough and its a bit snappy and average striker-fired trigger. Really gotta lock my wrist over and hold with a death grip to control the muzzle on that gun, bore axis is kinda high. I could use my M57 The soviet 1911 I actually might be getting my hands on a brand new Sig 1911 here soon for basically free I'm not a huge Sig fan but its not a bad gun, it shoots pretty nice, much more controllable than my .40cal. I'd been thinking about a Performance Center M&P in 9mm or maybe the new Strike One Speed? So many flavors so little dollars...

Skippy~ As for perception: Drive what you like and can afford. Those who don't like it can supply vacuum to one of your components. LOL

If you need parts, I have some!

That is freaking impressive, although I hope there's never a civilian IRL application for those skills!

Less impressive are the Parma Rod & Gun Club's set designers.

I don't know a single person in IDPA who shoots .40
I shoot my 1911, and sometimes a Sig or two and once in a while .38s in revolvers. I enjoy the stages in IDPA a whole lot more than IPSC. Also not a fan of the hot rodded handguns those guys are into.

The point of IDPA is to help shooters hone their skills for "real life" defensive situations. Plinking at paper targets doesn't do that. Bores me to tears in about 15 minutes frankly. When that timer goes off the set design becomes quite realistic. The 'sets' or stages are always following a written story. Sometimes pretty far fetched, which can be fun. I shot a stage once which involved having a broken leg with a cast on it and my strong arm in a sling. My right hand was tied up and I had a 6lb. maul duct taped to my left leg. Had to shoot weak-handed while hobbling through the stage. What a hoot.

I can imagine! I bet the competition is fun, too. Just sayin' if you (generic) are getting yourself into one of those scenarios IRL, you're life is a lot...more interesting...than mine!

A dear old family friend, who happens to be the stereotypical Tea Party-type (he and my father have been friends since high school, couldn't be more different!), does a lot of situational training and competitions. Not sure exactly what type, though. He just finished a session where they were target training from a canoe. I asked him if he was planning a trip down the Cahulawassee. He wasn't as amused as I was.

I know a few guys around here that use .40 for IDPA but I know thats not a typical choice. I know most of the matches are held at a few of our indoor ranges which is fine during the cooler season but I prefer outdoor activities. I don't think they do much outdoors. I still want to go regardless, just waiting for things to free up.
