That there isn't a decent 1/4-20 replacement. M6x1 is a fine thread in my book, it just rusts away too quickly. 1/4-20 fasteners are the best, nice and coarse, work when rusty, easy to cut.

Set M6x1.5 as the standard small fastener and I'll be onboard with a conversion.
