Ez golf cart foreword reverse switch
This part seems to be a standard wear item. I usually replace the little contacts (8 total) that reverse the polarity for reverse.
But on this one, the problem seems to be age over wear. The actual board deteriorated, so the foreword contact sunk in and got hot. When I mic'd the contacts my problematic one was actually the thickest, but as it sunk in it got hot and melted some. Question is, I found a complete switch for $100. Seems like that will be cheaper than: Contacts (8) Springs for said contacts Board the it sits in And the rotary part is a little broken also. Its the older type (94 and up) that has an actual mechanical switch you turn by your right leg, that has a linkage, that rotates the whole assembly. This guy |

On this cart, does the switch carry the full load of the traction motor or is it activating some sort of contactor?
On my Cushman electric vehicle, the reversing switch has heavy contacts and literally carries the full load of the motor.

I believe it carries load. It must from how problematic they are. Two leads come out of the device that turns the storage energy into usable energy for the motor. To this switch. And two leads go direct to the motor. Four total leads. Plus some other BS.
Normally I replace the contacts. But the board deteriorated a little. Not sure which came first. And plan to look up prices shortly. But Im wondering if I should buy this whole thing for $100 |

I see now after a closer look at the picture, there are a second set of contacts around the middle, not just the little switches.
Yeah, I would just replace the switch.

And ordering. The parts were almost more than the whole switch. And Im wondering if other parts will fail. Thanks.
