FDA Bans Trans Fats
FDA Bans Trans Fats. Hooray! - Forbes
For years trans fats were in all sorts of products, including forms of margarine that were popularized as alternatives to butter during World War II and as healthier alternatives to saturated fats in the 1960s. This was one case where the medical establishment was completely wrong. But in the 1990s the true toll of trans fats, which could be found in packaged cakes, peanut butter, pizza, and lots of other foods, started to become clear. On a calorie by calorie basis, trans fats seem to increase heart disease risk more than any other nutrient, and unlike other fats, sugars, or carbohydrates, they have no nutritional benefit. This has been in the works since 2013, so companies have been modifying their production to move away from trans fats. |

All synthetic fats and modified fats are bad news. The fat soluble chemicals that ride along in food worry more than the fat. Eat real food grown naturally without the help of factories and chemical plants.
We are the most poisoned people in the history of the world. |

Ooops! I eat the bagged mw popcorn. We'll have to cut that out and use our own system. Our system is putting some olive oil in a glass bowl and some popcorn and putting it in the mw. Its a little more trouble than the bags but not much.

We use heirloom kernels rather than the colossal hybrid that Orville Redenbacher unleashed on the world. If you compare the two side by side, you'll find a much more distinct textural and flavor difference between the two. If one is using the kernel as an extra flavor delivery system, then the colossal provides more area, but for plain popcorn, the heirloom is much tastier. |
