Business Speak at The Gap
Gap closing 175 stores to be more 'vibrant'
Gap announced Monday it will close a quarter of its stores and cut 250 corporate jobs as it tries to chart the clothing brand back toward growth. I think the Dilbert pointy haired boss wrote the press release. |

The headline really doesn't make any sense, as red is usually more vibrant than black...

It was one of those Inigo Montoya moments . . . I think they were looking for the word "profitability" not "growth."

Long time coming IMHO. I think I work with some folks who used to be there. It seems they've been slower to adapt to the trends of fast fashion and ecommerce. They own a bunch of different brands though, interesting they decided to cut the main brand.

There's a real problem with cheap clothing and "fast fashion."

There certainly is from an ethical perspective (and consumerist critiques of course) but the consumer determines the market. I wouldn't want to be one of the 250 cut thanks to misidentifying a trend. Sent from an abacus
