Gap closing 175 stores to be more 'vibrant'

Gap announced Monday it will close a quarter of its stores and cut 250 corporate jobs as it tries to chart the clothing brand back toward growth.

I think the Dilbert pointy haired boss wrote the press release.

The headline really doesn't make any sense, as red is usually more vibrant than black...

It was one of those Inigo Montoya moments . . . I think they were looking for the word "profitability" not "growth."

Long time coming IMHO. I think I work with some folks who used to be there. It seems they've been slower to adapt to the trends of fast fashion and ecommerce. They own a bunch of different brands though, interesting they decided to cut the main brand.

There's a real problem with cheap clothing and "fast fashion."

There certainly is from an ethical perspective (and consumerist critiques of course) but the consumer determines the market. I wouldn't want to be one of the 250 cut thanks to misidentifying a trend.
