You'd be surprised how many people don't remember the home number if they have a land line. Likewise, the use of auto dialing and stored contacts has greatly reduced the need for memorization.

Stop blaming technology. Technology is there whether you can adapt to it or not.

Ron White: If I could offer one piece of advice to the planet, it would be this: Don't marry for looks alone, and I'll tell you why. In a few years, when Barbara's boobs start sagging, she can get plastic surgery, have them lifted, move the nipple wherever. You can actually go to a titty bar, pick out a set of titties and say, "I want those titties on that woman." If her belly gets too big, she can get a tummy tuck and have a belly like a cheerleader. If her vision goes bad, you can have LASIK surgery and have 20/20 vision. If her hearing goes bad, they can install a device in her ear that will give you hearing as clear as it was the day you were born. But let me tell you something, folks: You can't fix stupid. There's not a pill you can take; there's not a class you can go to. Stupid is forever.

Don't know. Depending on the rules of the organization of faith, he could be both a theist and an enforcer. Just say "I'm sorry", might work.

Are keyless units that common today? Not sure they are, unfortunately.

maybe due to the christmas tree of lights in the gauge face zone out the people, just like 90% of drivers are driving around with the warning triangle and TPMS lamp (aka stick in jar lamp) and wonder why their tires are shot.
Short of the warning forcibly taking over, I doubt anything is going to make up for stupidity.

Not that big a fan of memorization myself. Just because you can remember data doesn't mean you can apply it. I can train a kid to remember mathematical formulas but it doesn't mean he can apply. We have data all over so memory is becoming less and less significant.

Can't imagine people longing for the "good old days". Sure, there were some good things but the more I think about it, they weren't that good after all. Kinda like childhood. Playing after school instead of having to work all day and then some, no responsibilities, etc. Rosy look till you consider you have to work under parents wishes, can't make decisions, no money of your own, etc. Thanks but no thanks. Wish I could wipe those "good old days" from my memory.

In any emergency or highly stressful situation people often forget the most basic of things and can be so badly dissociated that they are functionally diminished, sometime dramatically. A while back a friend of mine was relating an incident involving his cousin who was involved in a multicar accident. While the cousin wasn't seriously injured, he was badly shaken up, and he was walking around the cars on the side of the road, waving his cell phone and screaming for someone, anyone to call 911 because he couldn't remember the number. He laughs about it now, but at the time...

I'd consider paying money to watch someone do that. Not a lot of money but some just so I can say "Why not use the phone IN YOUR HAND?"

The point was that he couldn't "remember" the number, even though he was screaming it. He knew he had a phone, he just didn't know who to call.

You know that it's becoming a pushbutton world when, tired from a long day at work, you attempt to unlock your house door with the car remote...

No but if you activate your Sybian or Venus unit as you are pulling up to the garage in preparation, it is.
