Tom Selleck: Water Rustler?

Tom Selleck Sued for Allegedly Stealing Water in California Drought | E! Online

The Calleguas Municipal Water District has filed a suit against the 70-year-old actor, alleging he used a public hydrant to fill a commercial water tank, which he then brought to this 60-acre ranch in Westlake Village.

I think he may have been duped by door to door water salesguys.

I know of one city in west Texas, actually it is on the South Plains, where such a hydrant is used for the city water supply. Everyone pulls up with their tank and fills up.

Some homes have running water but only if they are with-in a mile or so of the Courthouse. The rest were built before the city put in a water system so they have to use the hydrant.

And woe be unto anyone who is not a citizen of the town who uses the water. Everyone knows everyone so an outsider is easy to spot and the fines are enough to make a person consider buying their water at WalMart.

He was just clearing the lines of rust and scale. Free service to the public.

He thought nobody would notice him....you know, he's 6' 6 or so and world famous...

There was a knuckle head basketball player at Purdue about fifteen years back who shoplifted in a local store....guess he thought nobody would be looking at a 6'-9 man in the store.

I would worry if he wasn't able to adequately wash and rinse his mustache.

"Desalinated water typically costs about $2,000 an acre foot -- roughly the amount of water a family of five uses in a year. The cost is about double that of water obtained from building a new reservoir or recycling wastewater, according to a 2013 study from the state Department of Water Resources."

Cheaper than the fine.

The gun boards are all up in arms about this. Everybody thinks Selleck's being targeted by the "liberal media" because he's a gun collecting conservative who sits on the NRA board. It's hilarious. They act like he really IS the hidebound police commissioner.

He's targeted because they made him pay for the water he took?

Filling-up from a city hydrant is one thing. But I've heard in some communities it's illegal to collect rainwater from your own roof!

Happy Motoring, Mark

I'm pretty sure the water would trickle down, so everyone benefits of his action.
