Who hits the gym around here?

Just joined for $15.00 a month at a local gym. Can't beat the price and I haven't worked out in a few years. Been hitting every day of the week hitting all the muscle groups. Couldn't stand being out of shape anymore and feeling nasty.

I go on my days off. I get enough of a workout at work on the days I do that.

I used to go every day, got pretty chunky and strong...a lot has changed since then, 2 jobs later I'm basically getting out and biking a 20mi sprint 2-3 times a week after work. Will probably pick it back up in the winter.

I go to the Ymca five days a week. MWF I swim for 45 min....about .7 miles to .75. TTH I do 2.2 miles on the treadmill in about 38 minutes then lift weights.

after lifting my upper body feels like I must look like the Hulk, but if I look in the mirror I still look like a 65 year old man with a bit of a pot belly.

But it sure beats the feeling of not exercising. When I do I feel better and feel better about myself.

YMCA is so expensive. $600.00 for the year to join the local Y. Could not justify the expense. $15.00 a month was the compromise for just as adequate exercise equipment, minus a pool that I would hardly probably get into.

I got to LA Fitness every other day.

I do interval training on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I do between 2.5 to 3 miles.

I then lift weights for about 45 minutes: lat pull / seated row, incline bench press, regular bench press, fly, preacher curls, and a tricep machine (don't know the name).

LA fitness is a nice gym. Nice local one near me I used to belong to. Just hate the people there in the particular gym.

Might not apply to you, but be careful not to start up too fast. I've done that a few times and you can pull a muscle really easy.

Recovery time is important. Perhaps you already know this, but you should give each muscle group at least a day off between workouts. I do work for a married couple, both champion weightlifters, who are personal trainers to the rich and famous here in Silicon Valley. I was talking with the guy once about recovery time and he said 'it's really easy to F up.'

Says that some muscle groups need four or five days between workouts. Who knows, I do know that he's about 58 and built better than most men are at any time in their life.

Every day. When I don't go, I feel like a bum. In fact, I did shoulders and core today.

I'm thinking about trying a cutting regimen. Haven't tried one yet, but am curious what the results will be.

I go most days and have been trying to learn to swim well. Here's 1 to copy.

Bike riding a couple of times/week. The intent is to keep walking without a walker - forever or until I die whichever comes first.

Same here (almost, two more weeks to go ). A lot of yardwork has the same effect, plus sometimes you get paid for it.

What, you mean you can't spare time from your studies to work out? Could well be that working out in moderation will improve your studies. And don't you have a good rec center?
