Totaled movie Benzes

Tonight I watched the movie Changing Lanes and there was a pristine silver CLK430 with AMG sport package in it driven by Ben Affleck. First the car was involved in a fender bender, and I think oh well. THEN later in the movie the car gets totally demolished. It absolutely pains me to see something like that!!! This 50 some grand car that most people pamper, spend hours on polishing, spend thousands maintaining.....gone...just like that!!! Just because Fox, Paramount or WB, or whoever has an inflated budget!!! I've seen this happen in other movies where pristine cars get totaled, I don't care if it's a Ford...but please not a Benz! (which happens way too often). I'm not seriously distraught here but when I sit there in the theatre I just cringe....anyone else share my sentiments??

Actually I love it when they use mercedes in movies. It gives me more incentive to watch them. I think theres a new movie coming out with chris rock and anthony hopkins where they trash a new s class. But yea it hurts to see benzes get hurt in the movies.

watch navy seals

watch 'navy seals' - then benz in it saves the day as an escape car and finally takes and anti-tank gun to make it die! the chase scene is ubelievable! if that's not an incentive / advertisment for mb i don't know what is!!

Many Mbs get blasted in movies. I dunno, there is just something about it that appeals to me but yet makes me feel it is so wrong at the same time.

Its more effective to crash an MB in a movie as it really gets the viewer's attention. Crash a ford and nobody cares, crash a Benz and you knw something serious has happened. Gets a more emotional response. Best Benz smashing movie after Navy Seals is the Peacemaker. Clooney takes out a bunch of BMWs with an S500 Guard. Its not so hard to watch a Benz being beat up if its smashing BMWs to bits in the process. Worst "waste of a Benz" movie is For your Eyes only when Roger Moore kicks an already hurt MB over a cliff.

IMHO, smashing up a new CLK 430 right off a dealer lot isn't as bad as smashing an out-of-production MB like the W126 S-class. James Bond, Tomorrow Never Dies

in "The Driver", Ryan O'Neal shows his driving skills in an indoor parking lot using an old benz. Apparently, he did not like the rounded sides of the car, and proceeded to flatten them ...

there are 2 reasons in my opinion why benzes are usually shown being smashed up in movies
- because people know it's expensive and therefore a rare sight to see one smashed up
- because it is safer for the stunt driver & passengers

Another good one is "Die Hard 3- With Avengence" with Bruce Willis. There is a 91 560 SEL involved in some pretty cool collisions. What a car! BTW, I hear the new movie out on DVD with Robert Redford has a W123 in it. There was also a movie with Jean Claud Van Dam that has two mint gold 123s that get sent into a Chinese Sea. Very sad...

Let um smash as many as they want. Someone somewhere will benefit from the salvage parts. Just don't smash any more Shelby's! Now that's just sick!

Are you referring to Gone in 60 Seconds? If you are, that Shelby in that movie wasn't real. Whew!
