Our cars (except the W210) would all still run and you could refuel at wally world with all the oil in the baking section. I love it.

Following an EMP, good luck keeping a functioning vehicle of any kind. Someone will soon kill you for it. If EMP happens while your stuck in the middle lane of bumper-to-bumper traffic jam, forget it.

Agreed. I'm armed even in casual society. In post EMP chaotic society I'd be on highest alert.

BTW, Tucson isn't "cramped" in any way. You could maneuver a 201 or 123 around all the lifeless OBD2 cars with no problems.
The benefit to having a metal NAM bumper on a 123 is that it'll now down people who want your car.

Read either of the the books "Lights Out" or "One Second After". Both are sobering reads as to what could happen after such an event.

I imagine a modern OB@ car would be fine also-the ECU is in a faraday cage, as is the fuel pump, fuse block, coil, plugs, etc....

The wiring to/from the ECU isn't in a Faraday cage, not even close.

I've been reading that book...sobering is an understatement.

As for protection of vehicles, I would imagine those with steel buildings would be safer from EMP, to a point. I have one vehicle that would run, no problems. 1972 F series dies for nobody. LOL

My .45 does not have any electronic parts, it works under all conditions.

Ditto with my .357 revolver,My Betrrettas, my Browning HP, my AR-15, my Korean .223 rifle and all my AKs.

And I have multiple copies of my CCW.

Nope, most of the units aren't even impervious to simple hacking, if you know the right frequencies.

This is something vehicle manufacturers are starting to think about.

So keep an old diesel with tube radio in the garage, and start it once a week summer por winter.

Darn! I missed my monthly radio fire-up and now it won't start.

Is it safe to use ether?
