VW submits 2.0L emissions refit proposal; Audi to handle 3.0L fix | LeftLaneNews

W met with the agencies last week to discuss the tentative plan to bring the 2.0-liter TDI engines into compliance with government emissions regulations, however the company is not yet publicly disclosing specific details, according to Edmunds.

The company is expected to implement expensive hardware modifications in some of the vehicles outfitted with the offending four-cylinder engine. Most lack a urea-injection system to help minimize nitrogen oxide output.


Audi believes the 3.0 sedans and SUVs can be fixed with new software.

May also be a buy back program for some of the early years? I read it some where.

I find the over reactions on the emissions thing hilarious. As if VW was the only company to do this and its all so shocking

the big three got busted for the same damn thing, got the DSG, would of gone manual but Mrs Drago was adamant about having auto. the oil change for life is sweeet. with Synthetic going for 4 or more a quart on sale and changing the oil looks like a pita to do in your driveway its hard to beat.

Yeah that lifetime oil change thing is a great part of the deal. The oil filter on the 2.0 is a bit of a pain to snake out, and the encapsulation panel has i think 12 or 14 screws on our passat at least. Bit of a pain on ramps

DSG is as far as automatics go, pretty nice. Took me a while to get used to the auto downshift, and the design of the transmission fascinates me over traditional planetary gears.
Dont forget 40 tranny oil changes!
