885 years in prison
What's the point?
Shawn Thomas case: Murder-plot suspect gets 885 years for child porn - Orlando Sentinel I get it but isn't there some kind of sentence which says something like "until death?"

What if the guy manged to live that long and the society that put him away is still functions? Would be a real shame to have him walk at like 300 or 400 years

Article says 60 counts of child pornography @ 15 years apiece for the first 59 and probation for the 60th. How ironic is that? "If you make it 885 years, we will be willing to put you on probation."

I have no sympathy for people that mess with children in any way. I just see no way 60 counts of possessing of child pornography Is possible.
I thought the charge was possession of child pornography as a felony. A single charge. This judge may be out to lunch. Actually the court proving he was also manufacturing some porn videos would have drawn a longer time and probably is a different charge. The guy faces some very serious charges like attempted murder soon enough. Unfortunatly the judge has really upset the applecart as there are going to be issues with her sentencing. She gave a life in prison sentence for a felony that already has sentencing guidelines. Of fifteen years maximum. The judge should have had enough brains that the sentence to come on attempted murder would be served concurrent to her sentence. I wonder if that trial also will be in front of her. |
