Bought a new daily driver

It's not a Mercedes and it has twin turbos. It's also brand new and gets over 23 MPG on the highway on RUG. Any guesses on what it is

Ford F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost - which I would run on at least mid-premium.

Right on the first guess! According to all of the reports on the F150 forums it's fine on RUG unless you are towing.

Runs fine, or is the engine retarding the ignition at the expense of performance/mpg?

Ok. I'm a little paranoid about turbo engines under load and their octane requirements, and run my 3.5 Ecoboost on 93 octane, which is maybe a little more than a bit of overkill.

Beautiful truck! Does it have the 2.7 heavy duty package?

Nice! Great color too. I would totally get one of these if I was in the market for a truck again.

There is some performance advantage available running on premium fuel, but it's not substantial. I think that you may increase horsepower on the Ecoboosts by high single-digits.

The 2.7 is a very good performer. It's almost amazing that such a large truck can perform well with a powerplant offering less displacement than the base engine on a 1960 Falcon.

No its just the regular package. I was planning on getting the 5.0 but after driving both the 3.5 and the 2.7 I was hooked on the EcoBoost. I couldn't justify the nearly $2000 premium on the 3.5 since I'm not doing any heavy towing aside from the occasional w123/w124 parts car I have wanted a full size truck for 10 years now and I decided it was finally time.

I sold the 400E so the 300TE and 240D are now going to be garage queens.

The father of a friend of mine recently got one of these, and boy, is it nice! Quiet, comfy, and nice and high off the road... I really loved it. So much more refined than our Corolla .

Does the aluminum bodt mean no rusty tailgates or cab corners? I'm really excited about the prospect one of one of these 10-15 years from now...

Nice truck. I would probably run at least 89 octane or at least give it an occasional treat of a few gallons of premium.
