Damn, that's a nifty device. I wonder how long the nail retains its new shape. I had ingrown toenail surgery as a teenager. It was really painful. Must have had about 10 shots with a long needle into my toe to numb it up. They cut out half of my nail right down to the root.

Although this part seems a little dicey:

You can easily make your own hooks with the included piano wire. It is then easy to place a brace or a spring clip on the nail while the toenail is straight.

It's like the Klann spring compressor for nails.

I had a slice cut from my big toe nail a few years ago. Right down to the root. Will the gizmo have any effect on the nail root is the question. Otherwise, the nail will grow straight, won't it. And that thing sure ain't going to be a permanent wear.
My $.02:Go see a good podiatrist. Office procedure.

BTW, it wasn't particularly painful. No effect on walking or getting into regular shoes. Little bleeding.
Now, bunion surgery....that's a whole nuther world! ( Same toe in fact. )
