George Barris, Legendary Car Customizer, Is Dead at 89
Blowers, velocity stacks, really wide slicks in back, cycle tires up front, plexiglass . . . |

Wow...RIP. One of the most influential car designers of all time. I love that he was also always hanging out at auctions up through this year, in his crazy rat fink gold jacket.
Sent from an abacus

Iv'e met a lot of people who think they are important and some who actually are.
But I never met George Barris. However you can meet Darryl Starbird if he is there to the day you go to his shop in Afton, Oklahoma. Admission is ten bucks. Just the having the chance of meeting the guy himself is worth that much. It's been a few years since I was there but from what I hear it just keeps getting better. Darryl Starbird National Rod & Custom Hall of Fame Museum And if you make it that far be sure to check out the J. M. Davis Gun Collection in Clairmore, OK and the Will Rogers Memorial that is just down the street. Both of those are free and well worth your time. |
