$30 a day last time I served. Glad to read justice was served.

The two defendants committed all of the above crimes over a period of about a week.

We found them guilty on all counts on every charge. Even the first degree portion of the murder charge.

We found out after the verdict that they were gang members of a violent gang. They would not let us leave the courthouse in the normal way. We were escorted out through the back hallways of the courthouse, down a special elevator, out of a back door of the courthouse, and escorted across the street to our cars by about two dozen police officers.

It was an emotional, unique experience.

Needless to say, I was concerned about being followed home, so I pretended to be CIA, and didn't drive directly home. I went about 24 miles in the opposite direction, got on and off the freeway randomly, made sudden U-turns, etc.
I don't blame you for the caution you exercised ! After the verdict was read, the couple I helped negate of their bogus civil lawsuit against a municipality, were exiting the parking garage at the same time the car I was in was exiting. I was concerned about what they potentially might do too. Thankfully, it went incident free.

I can see that. Suginami's case must have been all the more disconcerting, then, considering that he was dealing with hardened, violent criminals.

We didn't know they were gang members during the trial. For whatever reason, neither lawyer brought it up. I assume it was because the judge didn't let the prosecutor bring it up due to its prejudicial nature.

The defense attorneys also had their defendants dress up in nice clothes, and their hair style was in a conservative manner.

When we learned the reason why we were being escorted out of a back door of the court house and escorted to our cars across the street, there was a group of people who were either family members or associates of the gang members nearby the crosswalk where we had to cross the street.

A number of police officers stood between us and the defendants associates so we wouldn't be bothered by them.

A female jury member in her mid-thirties completely lost her composure at this time, started shaking uncontrollably and crying. She was clearly unable to drive herself home, and another jury member ended up driving her home.

I wonder if getting out of Jury Duty these days is as easy as wearing a Red Jacket with Make America Great on it.
