Ok, guys. I am blushing. So many kind words.
I am OK. Just really busy. Bought the new house in April and began renovating. New floors, hardwood in 1000sf. Mostly installed by new neighbor and me..repainted every wall. Added more insulation. Totally gutted and rebuild one bathroom. All new appliances.
Moved in in July. Still working on trim in 3 rooms
Tried to cut back work to 3 days a week, but ended up working 5. So much work that I can't just walk away.
Listed bel air house and got a contract on it.. buyer is first time buyer and had remorse, but 2 days AFTER her deadline to back out. And she wants her deposit back. Ha! Because of her, my house was off the market for 3 weeks. If she indeed bails ( how do you force her to come to settlement?), I am keeping her $1000.
Also, gave notice at work. Last day is this Friday. Yeah!!! Even if she bails, I am still quitting w work. I need to finish the house before Christmas.
So busy,I haven't even hooked up the desktop. I am writing this on a tablet.
Yes, I was a little tired of seeing the same people make the same arguments on OD, including me. No opinions were being changed, so with everything else going on,I just put my time into other, more productive, pursuits.
After Christmas, and the actual sale of the house, I need to finish the garage. It's av30x40 ' shell. I need to drywall and insulate and paint, and install a lift.THEN I can paint the '82 300 SD, and start driving it again.probably be back here for tech advice.
One of my sons occasionally lurks here, due to some interesting threads I sent him in the past. He saw this thread and tested me about your concerns, so I felt I had to post and k st you know the reports of my demise were right exaggerated.

Great to read that financially, you're set enough to quit your job. That's a good sign.

Shop is a mess---all that stuff that got moved, but didn't have a place in the house ended up in the garage, and all the stuff that was in the old garage, and shed and other storage places ended up in the garage. I have to empty out the garage so i can insulate and drywall, and add shelves to put that stuff that is all over the floor. Maybe I can post a pic of the outside, and let you imagine the beautiful, and organized interior.....
