I've been involved with Siberian Huskies for over twenty years now. The oldest dog breed in existence, ancestry directly traceable to the wolf. Smart, beautiful, fast as lightening, and ALWAYS ALWAYS ENTERTAINING!!!

When I lived in AK and OR we had a number of Huskies. We always observed they were very tolerant of the family cat, and our A Female was as bad as Lilo in the article. I read this article a few weeks back and had even sent it on the X.

I had a husky. I'm not sure I'd call her smart (dumb as cement, maybe), but she was the most loving animal I've ever encountered.

Sometimes I would house sit a neighbors house when he was out of town ,this included feeding his hybrid mixed breed husky /wolf named Zues.Since Ive known the dog from a pup he never gave me any reason for worry when entering or exiting the property but did have a different demeanner than other dogs ,an animal that can take down a much larger animal will carry a certain respect and theyll let you know it.He had once given me this lesson when I was setting his bowl up to pour the kibbel in at night, he reared up and knocked me off the porch and grabbed my arm ,then let go.Luckily it was winter time and I had a sizable coat on ,just left scratches .I remember the owner telling me about what he was told at the time of purchase, the animals are to be respected ,their instincts are more heightened than just a reg.dogs ,the idea is it will test you as the alpha dog as a pup and you must assert that domainace at a young age to set the obidience in the animal.He got plenty of play time when i was their but I knew when to shut the gate and leave him alone ,the time food hit the bowl.In his eyes I was another of the pack to be tested ,lessen learned.
