In the eighties ivory was very popular....I have probably owned at least 6 that color myself.

Today though I would say silver is the most popular.

Their old cars are based generally on the four humors color palate. Variations of yellow bile, black bile, phleghm, and blood. With a few more bodily function colors thrown in for extra variety.

Newer ones my opinion is the most popular color is an incredibly boring silver. I enjoy how different my diarrhea colored 115 is from the newer boring palete mercedes has.

silver is a popular color among all cars now at least here. I have owned a few silver cars. My favorite is a W126 in the metallic blue black I had on my '86 420SEL. I am sure my orient red SD will look good once it is repainted.

I concur... 80% of the 300TD's that I've seen are manila beige. Popular taxi color at the other side of the Pond.

I've had 3 190ds, 2 W115s, a 300TD, and a 240D in some variation of manila beige, tunis beige, light ivory, etc. There are slight variations but its all yellow putty to me.

I personally like the color. Currently have a 72 220D and 72 220 gasser in the stable in Tunis Beige and Light Ivory.

However for Mercedes, the most popular color is silver. I don't care for silver Mercedes (280SEL is silver and is gorgeous though) but for German cars, silver has always been their color and I see the most of it.

My Dad bought a 1974 MB 240D new in the light yellow color with the ivory colored MB Tex interior. Dad would buy what the dealer had in-stock, at a very small Dodge/Mercedes-Benz dealer in Grand Island, Nebraska back then. Much better price than Morton Motors in Omaha.

RE: "Silver?" (Irridium Silver)
I am partial to the darker shade: Pewter Grey
MB also makes/made:
Granite Grey
Indium Grey

I once asked MB for paint assistance and they told me they have had one and only one silver all along, no need to worry about years or models.

There was once a report of a guy who somehow forgot where he parked his car. He said he was looking for his silver Mercedes-Benz.

All kidding aside, have at it. All photos below are from forum events or local meets.

The older cars seem to have more pastel colors, while the newer cars tend to have more metallic colors.

White is said to be the most popular vehicle color overall, and is also the only color sold by MB which doesn’t require an added charge. Due to all of that, my guess would be white.

Around here silver rules.

They still have a nice blue though, when/if I get my new E class I'm getting the blue.

I recently had occasion to sit and watch the cars coming and going through the dealer's service pick up / drop off lanes. Of course, the cars seen there are mostly pretty new, say, the last 5 model years. Probably 90% of the cars were either black or white, with only an occasional silver or gray one. No bright colors at all. Kind of surprised me.

That's been the story forever... Black and white cars, with a smattering of other colors. But what attracted me to mercedes was watching a car hauler unloading at a dealer maybe around 72. All the cars were yellow or orange. I've been wanting an orange Benz ever since.
