Dealer damaged my wheel
I washed my car this morning (Saturday) and then drove into town. The wheels were in perfect order. On the way, I noticed a graunching noise/feeling in the steering. I took the car into the dealer on the way to my lunch date. I know the dealer's techs knock off at 1.00pm, and it was 12.30pm, but I figured it might be something important.
The service manager, who I know pretty well and have come to trust, sat in the car and replicated the problem. He drove (me in the passenger seat) into the workshop and as he was putting the car on the ramp, I noticed he crunched a wheel. When we got out and he raised the car, I noticed he had damaged the wheel, about an inch big scuff, lifting the lacquer and damaging the alloy underneath. I saw him looking at it, and he saw me see him looking at it. For some reason I didn't say anything. I do not know why. I guess I felt he was doing me a favour looking at the car immediately at 12.45pm on a Saturday. And I didn't want to sour what has become a good working relationship. And that wheel already has a small nick in it. Did I do the right thing? Anyway, it needs a new steering linkage, which he is going to fit free of charge on Thursday.

Pentoman:
It was Mercedes-Benz of Newcastle. They have offered extremely good service in the past (and continue to do so).

jjrodger, you did the right thing. one day you may need him for a real serious problem and you wouldn't want him to hesitate to help you.
