I met Aggie Pate once. He loved old cars, people, and having a good time. To him the Pate meet became a great excuse to throw parties for days and to see old friends. He was also always looking for cars for his collection.

But from what I understand the Pate meet was an offshoot of a current swap meet that needed more room. Since Aggie's company owned a ranch that also housed his car collection, a collection which was always free and open to the public, he was asked about using his ranch for a swap meet. And it took off from there.

You don't die until your name is uttered for the last time. So going by this logic Aggie Pate will live forever.

The Pate collection is gone now; auctions off a few years ago. I could not bring myself to go. I just want to remember it like it was.

Hmm, did not know that, I signed up for the very last swap meet out at the cow pasture --just so I could say I was set up at it.

Borrowed a friends F150 to haul all my junk out there, and it was starting to rain, when the DS wheel bearing decided to weld itself to the spindle and hijacked that plan. I was told that it was a total deluge, and one person who braved it said he saw a stripped short block chevy floating down twards the creek:P..........................

For the record, no part of Tejas is in the Southwest, except maybe El Paso, which sits on the banks of a river that is born in the SW and by some cruel twist of fate ends up flowing towards the east.;) Maybe Kermit or Farwell could call themselves "where the SW begins", but Ft. Worth is a buncha hundred miles EAST.

Uh , I gotta differ, you visit any place west of Abilene , (and you have-Made a trip to San Saba) its pretty southwest, especially the tranz pecos. ide draw the official N/S line as anywhere west of hwy 83, that runs from Canada to Laredo.

And pate used to take 2 days to see it all, at the old site west of Ft worth-and 2016 makes 20 yrs since it was last there. If im "on mission" I can scan the whole thing in 4-5 hrs, this yr there were 2 36 chevy pickups and a spare cab, No spare 34-8 fenders anywhere.

Kinda interesting on how old 4 cylinders didn't even use valve covers or oiling to the rocker arms, chevy and buick trucks were that way

Fort Worth claims to be 'Where the West Begins' because many years ago someone in the US Geo Service was tasked with determining where the 'west' was. They picked a longitude line, said that was it, and the line ran right through Fort Worth. Or at least close to it.

In Oklahoma this line is known as the 'Indian Meridian' and is 97d, 14m, 33sec. degrees Long. Fort Worth is also on this Longitude.

And everything west of that is west.

But to be practical you really don't start feeling the southwest until you get at least to San Saba or Sweetwater.

I knew this would happen sooner or later.

Cool! I really like the look of the ford with the tan wheels. What was the three window coupe with no labels showing?

The one with no trim was a 34 chevy.
