Generation I Isuzu Trooper

Just picked one up. 1991. A little rusty and the fuel pump is failing. Typical GM 90s in tank pump. Very basic, no power windows or sunroof, AC, etc. has the GM 2.8 V6 and a five speed. White with brown tweed insides. Picked it up cheap from a med student. Always liked these little guys. Anyone ever have one?

Always liked those, handsome but basic and easy to work on. A really wallowy suspension (due in lace part to a high center of gravity no doubt).

Very able 4x4. I had access to one as a beach truck for a season for surf casting. Excellent sand truck and early land rover style visibility

Post a pic

TX76513 has a Holden Jackaroo (same thing) with the 2.2 diesel in it. I have seen it in person and the little truck rocks!

I had a '91 just like the OP's. Had it on the road for four years with no trouble. Put a set of 31's on it and drove it thru anything. A rusty frame did her in..........

What do you see for fuel economy with the diesel engine?

I test drove a new one with the diesel when they first came out but for some long forgotten reason didn't pull the trigger. A good friend had a 91 gasser he bought new and kept for a dozen years or more. We took it all over N. Mexico and once on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands NP. Impressive little truck but a lot tippier than a Land Cruiser or the International Travelall I had at the time.

I remember seeing a tan one on ebay I was considering...
But it was in San Simion AZ, The place to NOT stop if you are heading west on I10.

Make sure you are filled up at Lordsburg and can make it to Benson.

BIL had the early US diesel version, bought new. Blew the engine on it shortly after purchase. Replaced under warranty. Don't know why that happened but he claimed it never was a peppy with the new engine.
