Question What's in a name?

I need your help!

Just purchased a 1983 240D manual 4sp, Black.
(please hold your applause...)

she needs a name. All I can come up with is "Black Panther" but am afraid of what connotations that may have for some people.

My sister thinks "Molasses", but she is on crack.
My 2 year old says, "elephant"...nahhhhh.

I am at a loss, and feel that the old girl just won't run right until she has a name!

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

~Brian

Smile Ooooohhhhhhhh...

Panzer...
I LIKE it!

Considering my '81 300TDT is named "Tank" I think it may be a good choice.

To steal a name from John S. AKA Blackmercedes, "Black Betty" seems appropriate. BB for short.

Snibble

That was quick it only took you seven minutes to catch and post that. No offense was meant on the name.

How about "Black Star"?

It's the name of a great Montana beer, as well as a Radiohead song, and it's black and has a star on it. What can I say?

Thanks Guys!

I think I'll stay away from "Dung Beetle", but I appreciate the input!

They are all great names, I just have to choose one and stick with it! Our wagon is called "Tank" so Panzer is looking like the best alternative so far, although Black Betty is great except is already in use... I was thinking of something with "Black" in front or even "Darth ..." (Darth Panzer? ...naaaah)

Any other ideas??

Schwartz?

Not sure how it is spelled, but I am told that Schwartz means 'black' in German...

I need something short (so I can remember it... )

A car that can make 1200 kilometers on a tank of fuel, climb mountain passes without breaking a sweat, all in total comfort? [/B][/QUOTE]

Is that possible for any Mercedes to do 1200km with one fuel tank ?
With my 240D it's difficult to go over 800km (500miles) without take the risk to have the fuel fank completely dry !

ok,

I didn't know that it was possible to do that with a Mercedes (even with a recent Mercedes).
What an efficiency progress in 15 years between the W123 and the W210 !

On my 240D, when driving at 110/120 km/h my average consumption is about 7.5 l/100 km. So the 65 (theorical) liters don't enable me to go over 800km.
In fact your C230 almost have the same consumption as my 240D.

But I'm wondering something : if I remember well, the standart capacity of the fuel tank on the E300D is not 65L ? Does your car have an optional extended capacity fuel tank? I thought that only the gasoline engine (since the E280) had a 80L fuel tank.

Call it BB. Black Benz, black bumblebee, or whatever. It's a BB in comparison to the Tank.

Got it (?)

OK, I think I'll name her "BB" and that saves me from making choices.

Another name I was thinking is "kugelsicher" which is german for Bullet Proof.
