Post Price on w109 4,5 from new in 1972

Hello Merc Lovers

Im living in Denmark and i have just gotten my hands on a w109 300 SEL 4,5 imported from the state of Ohio back in 2013.

Im trying to pay the tax needed to get it on the road here and im seeking what this car costed back in 1972 if you bought it brand new at a dealer.

Can anyone here point me in the direction or do any of you know the price ?
Some documentation on the price would be really cool

Best Regards
Henrik

That's a long-wheelbase w108. He would be looking for the price on a 300SEL 4.5

I have a card that advertised the prices of Mercedes from 1970. This might help or it might not.

This is the 'Suggested advertised delivered price at port of entry'.

It lists a 1970 300sel wth a 3.5 and automatic at $12,100 on the east coast, which would be New York or perhaps Houston. Both were considered the eastern zone by Mercedes.

The west coast price, such as Los Angeles, was $12,240.

What were the options and perhaps I can price some of those out as well.

A sunroof, electric, was $267. Tinted windows, A/C, radio and electric windows were standard equipment. So was an automatic transmission and power steering.

You might be able to contact the Classic Center in the US and get some information from them. I know they once provided such documents but I understand they no longer offer such a package.

However, in your situation, they might be able to offer this information if you gave them the VIN.

To put that $12,000 price into perspective a Roll Royce was selling then for about $15,000.

A 6.3 had a list price of $15,122.

Open discussion posts don't count towards your post count I do not think.
