Any Electrical or Machining Experts?
The house currently residing in, removed an excessively large kitchen center island and moved the dining out of the original family room back to the original location in the kitchen, however the hanging fixture is just the right hight to get me on the upper forehead and doesn't work for a family room.
In all the mess of settling the estate, didn't notice the midcentury modern globe fixture from grandparents home was missing the two pieces of hardware to mount to the box. Plan was it to be the family room light and this only be possible if new hardware could be machined, as no one has a match, especially the machined matt finish. The other idea for a light was to convert the hardwire to an outlet, so could plug in a fixture, have it wall switch operated, rather than convert to hardwire (not even sure possible). I see floor outlets with a round cover and these single rounds are available. But, will they work in a 4" pancake? Thank y'all in advance for any help!

This might work for converting the box. It's not indented like a floor outlet, so will work in a shallower box. You can paint the plate with metal paint to make it look nice.

I actually looked on Amazon, but the trick is knowing the right term and where: so many items in that store. Yes, good idea on paint. My original idea before this part was to put a plate cover, but can come later. I mean, who looks closely at the ceiling?
