1984 300TD totaled need insurance valuation

Unfortunately my 1984 300 TD met a lady that couldn't keep her car in the right lane and smashed the front driver's side fender and amazingly bounced off and hit the driver's side passenger door. The driver's side front wheel it bent out a little too as you can see in the pics. prior to the accident overall fair to good condition, with a rebuilt transmission 18 mos ago. Any ideas of what my car is worth or how to value? 239,000 miles. I've owned it since 1997.

1984 Mercedes-Benz 300TD-T Value | 4 Door Station Wagon Prices and Book Value

This is the site I used when mine was totaled. The insurance came up with 2 wagons. One was in California and the other one was in Blacksburg Va. Mine had no rust and 250,000 miles on it but was repainted with new tires. Had to go around with them for about 2months and request that one of their reps be taken off the case. she must have had a bowel problem because she just kept talking S__t . They will try to low ball but you know your vehicle. Keep after them to do the right thing I think it helped that I also had a medical case against them too.

My insurance policy with Liberty Mutual states that my 1988 300CE (144,000 now) is insured only for its current retail resale value. There is no "antique value" recognized in determining its worth.
NADA retail values in the posted link seem fair. The day before it was wrecked would you have taken $6,250 for it? I think I would have. What's the condition of the interior?

Most insurance companies do not look at the "book" they use a system that looks for comparable vehicles for sale. I cannot remember the name of the system, but they more than likely aren't going to look at NADA.

If you have receipts for previous work performed you can probably more easily talk them into the upper edge of their valuation range. If it was DIY stuff you have no record of, they won't care.

For the 103k miles I've put on mine, I have every receipt.

When my daughter totaled my '91 190e 2.6 in 2001 (140k +/-) I got 7,000 for it. No receipts but my best friend (a smoker) sold it to me and he kept it up very well at a dealer. I don't recall the company back then,. but he did provide a list of several comparable sales in the same general location (within 100-200 miles) & payment was based on that. Similar thing happened when same daughter wrecked another car of mine 3-4 years later.

I used the Hagerty site to get some values along with some ebay auctions. The adjuster could tell it was well taken care for the most part and since I didn't ask for any rental they gave me $6500, which includes tax. and I get to keep the car. Thanks for the input.

That sounds fair and reasonable.

When my truck got totalled I told the adjuster I am not going to ask for a rental, I am not going to ask for a medical settlement, I just want a fair value for my truck. I was polite to her, and she was nice to me. When people take a hyper aggressive stance from the jump with an adjuster and they are surprised they get some friction from the adjuster I laugh. They showed me the comps and they were more than I thought the truck was worth, and I got to keep the truck. Everyone was happy. I bought some used parts for under $100, had a salvage vehicle inspection, and the truck still on the road today.

I'm sure someone is about to show you a link to someone asking $29,000 for a 300TD on eBay and say they would have used that as a comp.

I'm going to put it on eBay soon. It needs a engine overhaul or replacement. The auto door locks were going and the ac blew only thru the side vents. Fair condition over all. I estimate $9k at garage prices will get it back on the road in with the dents fixed etc. The major damage from the accident is the bent front wheel, the front driver's side fender and the driver's side passenger door, with a small amount on damage where the door meets the rear fender area. I had just ordered an engine with my mechanic a couple of days before the accident but was able to cancel that. Open to offers or suggestions about pricing. Thanks again for the input.
