Sneaky land dealings.

I live along a business district and recently the county has projected a large new road change which will be next to the property. The landlord has told me the county is going to take part of his property .This sends a red flag up since Ive recently communicated with the county about the changes .The corner lot next to this property will be taken by a local body shop ,this was in lue of the county taking some of their frontage property which was parking for their business .It turns out the amount of land that they seem to need which conjoins the body shops land is were the power and water well reside on the property I rent . Its not on paper and Ive asked the landlord whats involved without needling in his business but it seems to me their going after just enough land to gain the services. I smell something fishy .The bodyshop owner knows somebody at the county or Im not getting the whole story around this deal.

Especially at local levels. I discovered that first-hand when I bought the workshop in Fenton

Seems like it's your business as well as his, since it could affect your living arrangements. Of course, your LL has to provide you as a renter with power and water, doesn't he?

Since you're not getting the whole story, why not ask the LL what's going on. If you're going to have to move, you have a right to know that.

Well it took more digging to get the real story from the land aqiuisition company who handles the property changes on friday ,they deal with these projects as they start buying up land .The plans for the new road changes do show a turn around and gives a good look at what land will be aquired .What they didnt know is anything about a well sitting on the property .After I filled them in on its location the engineer needed my help in seeing if it was in the area of change.I spent some time measuring out from a given tee pole the location of the well head and it looks to be just out of the zone but told him I would much rather it be pinned with a gps or professional survoyer to be 100% sure, monday Im suppose to get a call. The deal about the body shop was a story given to me and I do trust my landlord like a friend ,THE STORY TELLER ,not so much. Can you get a real accurate reading with a gps ,within inches not feet.

A licensed surveyor with something like Trimble will be very accurate, but nowadays it's pretty quick and easy to set up from a survey monuments, or geodetic mark and shoot from a point like that with a lazer to anything line of site. The lazer is straight and it measures the precise distance. It will cost a couple hundred unless the government does it with their own people of as a contracted part of the overall project.

Botnst might be the man to give the low down on what can be expected in the real world with this stuff.

"You might be aware that surveyors have been using GPS to do extremely precise surveys for years, fixing points with relative accuracy on the order of millimeters."
