Radial engined pickup truck

Saw this today at Colorado Auto Parts. It's finished now and is very smart. Interior is set up like an airplane cockpit with twin wheels. Watch it to the end and then a second video with a street run will come up. It looks like something TomW would drive.

Good Lord! The question is not "HOW" but "WHY"!

It'd be about 700F in the cab of that thing. I don't even want to think of the gyroscopic effect if you tried to take a turn at speed.

On an episode of Jay Leno. You can look it up on Utube if desired. Overheats rapidly or oil gets too hot.

I hope Tom does not get any new ideas for his Studebaker.

In WW2 Studebaker built radial air engines, so it would follow to build a pickup with one.

that is some crazy Shyte!

Among the many things I was unaware of. Some of the Sherman tanks had radial engines or all? Was that the engine?

The reason I ask is I never heard of a Studebaker radial produced by them for aircraft. Even as a subcontractor. Awareness of that period in time is subsiding now as well it seems.

What I have always wondered is Studebaker built a lot of trucks in the second world war. Decent sized 6x6s.

Many of then even going to Russia. Yet after the war deserted that market segment pretty well. There was a strong market for medium sized trucks after the war or perhaps so many were obtainable surplus there was only a weak market?

I believe the stude built radial was used in the B-17, perhaps other planes too. They were big powerful engines. Built on someone elses patent...perhaps lycoming.

I am not aware of them being used in tanks.

The big 6x6 stude trucks were so loved by the Russians they copied them after the war and built them for decades. In ww2 the trucks had the stude commander flathead six....a very rugged torquey engine.

Sherman Tanks and Radial engine question - AFV Forum - tank-net.com

Apparently Sherman Tanks used quite few types of Engines.

Wow, motorcycles also.

Entirely cool in every way, except when sitting behind the running engine.

That is the definition of bad assed. I can't help but wonder what sort of running gear it has under it to get the power to the wheels ... and has it made any passes at Bandimere yet?

That place is one of my favorite you-pull yards. No gate fee and less than ten minutes from my house.
