Just watch Russel Crowe in his gladiator movie. Typical mistake, last scene is his son running down a dirt track.

Now, back then, a cart or chariot would have two horses pulling ( Mostly.)and the track center would have been chewed up with hoses hooves not a nice long grass lawn !

I lived near Newmarket in the UK a long time ago and there where tracks, but no grass going to or from the stalls and downs.

Also my milkman when I was 6y/o had a one horse drawn milk float. The dairy was all dirt....no grass !

Now I know this is trivial, but it bugs me no end that they spend millions on effects and don't get the scenery right. Guess it's my Asperger's.
