Just thought I'd post since I am having trouble finding one and thought maybe someone here had one by chance.

Have you cross referenced for the same part for the 1987 Dodge Raider?

At least that will open you up to another option since it looks like you're going to have to go the scavenger route, and contact salvage yards.

Don't forget that the Montero was sold as the Pajero in other countries...

I believe the parts vendors lump all those together automatically. I ordered one later from Amazon. Probably don't have it though.

Thanks guys!

I did, and just for kicks I ordered one from them too. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I had one of these once. Not a bad ride for a 4x4.

You can call up a web site called Row52 and it will allow you to search for cars in wrecking yards in your area. If you need anything else for it you might want to check this site out.

Be sure to replace the gasket. According to other owners I spoke with the gasket on the fuel sending unit is prone to leaking and needs to be replaced every now and then.

This is easy to get to after you remove about one million bolts that hold the rear carpet in. The access plate is also held down by bolts that must have been put in with Loctite Blue so get out the big cheater bar.

Mine is carburated and the sender is accessible from below. I got an email from Amazon saying they have shipped the part already.....does that mean it really exists?

Not necessarily...they've been known to have items marked wrong. My last mishap with them was an intake manifold for a Ford 302. What was sent wasn't even for a V8. I sent it back, and picked one up locally, instead.

Hopefully your experience is a positive one. Thoroughly compare the two to make sure it's the right one. I was getting ready to suggest that you research to see if they used the same unit with modifications in other vehicles...and if so, to get one and see if you can alter to fit your application.

Hey Tom,

Hopefully they are sending you the right part and it works out. For what its worth, I wonder if your part may be repairable. I recently repaired a W126 unit that has been NLA for a while now. It wasn't bad at all. It's basically a float running along some wires that varies resistance to ground.
