Long time no see

Hello there.
I haven't been on here in about a year. Life and what not has been pretty crazy the last year. Most of you who have met me in the past will not recognize me today. I had a health scare last may and as a result I've been focusing on my health. Changed my diet and exercising daily. I've lost about 125lb so far! Thanks to iwrock, Justin, he's been helping me with my diet routine. Justin has also slimmed down. He's kindly given me some of his cloths that are now to big for him and that has been great because being a fellow MB enthusiast I've gotten some pretty sweet MB shirts out of the deal. Today I came home from work and started going though my closet. This last weekend while on a shopping trip I tried on some new cloths and I'm down another size. I started in a 4xl/3xl shirt and 44 waist pants. Today I'm a 2xl/xl shirt and 36 pants. So while cleaning out my closet I came across a hand full of MB shirts that are to big for me. I thought I'd come on here an see if any of y'all wanted them? Free + shipping to who ever wants them. I think they're too cool to go to goodwill. I'd love it if someone wanted all of them and I could just put them in one box and fedex them.

Some t-shirt and some polos (collard t-shirts) Size 3xl

Congratulations on your success!

I was lean until my late 50s when I got a desk job with many managerial and exec duties.
I also had a health scare that took eight years to resolve through exercise and meds.

Have gotten rid of most meds, need to lose a little more to get rid of the rest of them.

Probably no more marathons in my future but the idea of a 50 mile walk doesn't seem so far-fetched, as long as I can spend the night at the destination before walking back the next day, lol.

BTW do you remember where you got the W112 shirts?

Over the last 15 years I have dropped 55 pounds. With no exercise!

I decided to retire and started working on the old cars for fun since I have never liked playing golf.

Then people kept calling and tempting me with money, so I fired up the agency and hired a bunch of slackers to do most of the work for me. I continued to play with the cars. It did require more effort than just sitting through meetings and eventually asking the customer how much longer we were going to be there.

And I slowly started losing the pounds. Some people go to the gym and lift weights. I go to the shop and lift car parts.

Have you lifted a MFI pump for a 250se lately? They are not getting any lighter.

I too work at a desk and I know for a fact that's why my rear end was so wide

One of the big changes I made was walking for an hour every day. I'm lucky that my office is about a 5 min walk from the American River, there is a bike trail and hiking trail system along the river. So I get up and walk for an hour. I try and jog a bit in there to get 4 miles in before returning to my desk. So far its been exactly what the doctor ordered.

My health scare was finding I was pre-diabetic after I had a panic attack. So my goal has been to get my stress down as well as my weight. I've been eating low carb for the pre-diabetes diagnosis and walking for my stress. With the weight loss my last blood test came back normal, no more pre-diabetes, but I'll always be on the modified diet to keep it at bay. As for my stress, it hasn't been a problem for me lately. One of my friends who is in school to be a councilor told me I need to find "flow-time" that time when your focused on a task and time just flies by. Some people paint, for me, I find my flow time in the garage. So don't let anyone tell you working on cars isn't therapeutic

Congrats man! I'm glad I could help. I remember when you called me in shock after talking to the doctor, and shared with you a few thoughts to get you motivated. Told you losing weight isn't really "one step" - it's a lifestyle change!

Kudos to you for keeping on it. It's difficult at times, but not impossible! We should get together again one of these days with the ladies for burgers and broccoli, it's been too long. Maybe when we get settled in the new place!

Many years ago a University in California ran tests on every type of exercise. The theory was if you are going to exercise then why mess with those that don't work?

They found low impact exercise to return the best results. Faster weight loss, more muscle gain, longer lasting.....

And the best low impact exercise of them all? Walking. Yup, just walking.

So keep it up.

I know a guy who had a diabetes scare so he took up walking. He asked me to join him on his daily jaunt and since this guy lives in an urban war zone it was not like a stroll across a country club golf course. Lots of ugly stuff to see when you're walking over broken glass and amidst falling down buildings.

But you can't wait for life to be perfect; you have to go with what you have and not blame your surroundings for your poor state of health.
