Car Museums.....
I am going to take off this summer and kill some time. I don't know how much of it I have left so I intend to spend it in the most unwise way I can think of.
So, can anyone recommend any Car Museums around the country? I have been to Rockefeller's place in Arkansas, and to the big transportation museum in Denver. I was also a regular at Aggie Tate's museum until he died and it was sold off. Anyplace you can name is OK. I don't know where I am going until I fire up the car and start making hotel reservations. |

If you are in that area, I'd not miss the Air Force museum in Dayton Ohio - Doesn't feature a lot of cars but the collection of engines, turbines and the things they are attached to, is tough to beat.

Believe it or not, you will be disappointed in the Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield Village. The number of items is limited and the exhibits have been politicized. You can see Kennedy's limo and the bus Rosa Parks rode in, but the kind of stuff that used to be there is all gone. The Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills is OK but has limited hours.

Gilmore Car Museum - Western Michigan
Gilmore Car Museum, Hickory Corners, West Michigan
Large, interesting collection of cars and related stuff, gathered into several buildings. You could easily walk around all day and not take it all in. |

I just did the MB factory tour and museum in Stuttgart (i know not USA). I'll write up a post for it soon. That was by far the best car musueum and factory tour i've ever done! I know it's not a car museum, but why not take a trip to the MB factory in Alabama? That would be a cool experience.
