Experienced Opinions:

I bought a '89 mighty max pickup, rear wheel drive with 300K on it. I need to select shocks for this truck. Please keep in mind the mileage and economic life of this truck.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

Have you used Monroe heavy duty shocks on a round town truck?

No. My truck is a 3/4 ton dodge with cummins. I buy the ranchos, biggest stiffest muthas available.

Your little truck just needs some decent shocks....right?

I bought KYB single tube shocks for the front of the old F250. Single tube gives you bigger pistons, more square inches of hydraulics. They were a huge improvement over the old worn shocks.

Pricey, but compared to what people pay for trucks these days I can splurge on everything and still come out ahead.

Clearance priced parts for that vehicle should be easy to find. Ask around, check popular sites.

I was happy with KYB Gas-Adjust I put on an Isuzu pickup many yeas ago and just ordered another set from Rock-Auto for my '96 Tacoma.
KYB is offering a $40 visa-card mail-in rebate on 4 shocks till the end of the month.

Happy Motoring, Mark

R O C K A U T O is probably your best bet ... Just did the 4 corners on my daughter's Jeep with premium life timers for $407 shipped and I got some sort of rebate so less than $407 ...

I just received the 4 KYB Gas-Adjusts. The set for my '96 Tacoma was about $125 including shipping, not counting the $40 rebate Visa Card, for which I'll need to mail in the application. I just checked and they only have the fronts for a Mighty Max. They do have the KYB GR-2s - original quality, which are a bit cheaper. Also Monroes, Gabriels, Ranchos, etc...

Happy Motoring, Mark

This links to discount parts for a truck like yours. Check how much like yours.

You have to fix the link. Same site as mentioned above.

Or, click RSS next the parts listing for your truck to find it manually.

The shocks I mentioned above are KYB MonoMax. Just for reference, not that you want them.

I had a full sized Ford station wagon that I put air adjustable shocks on. They were not expensive and went on just like normal shocks.

I located the air inlet somewhere where I could reach it and then, when I needed to haul a full load, I pumped them up. The rest of the time I had a nice and controlled ride.

Considering this is a small truck this might be a good option.
