What kind of paint do you prefer?
Looked into painting the car again and was just wanting some input on the diffrent kinds of paint.
Right now I am leaning to clear coat but my unlce says he thing an enamal would look good. |
I don't know a lot about the actual differences in the paints, but I know from experience that you can get a really, really deep shine with lacquer, but the shop has to really know what they're doing to get good results. I had an old Camaro done in lacquer a long time ago...It looked great. :)

(sniff sniff, sniiiiiifffffff) I get a better rush with enamel than clearcoat:rolleyes:
Oh you mean the application of said product on the CAR??? If you plan on wetsanding between or after the final coat, enamel is easier to play with. Otherwise, lacquer gives terrific results. These days, the clearcoat products are water-based, so they don't withstand the environment as well as the earlier polymers... |
current waterbased paint
current paint on MB is substandard.it chips on all frontal areas of the car.Thin as a whippets ribs.Has to be covered in plastic for prevention.Environmentally friendly but totally inadequate.Do not use waterbased.

I agree...No water-based. I know the Enviro-nazis will probably scold us, but I don't care. I like durable paint. :)
