Gene Keady and Bobby Knight

Yesterday afternoon my son and I went over to Purdue and listened to the Gene and Bobby show. It was moderated by Bob Hammel a reporter for the Indy Star who was always a big Knight fan. Bobby hogged the mike (not surprising) and said nice things about Gene.
Hammel did note that Gene has a winning record against Bobby but failed to mention that Gene is the ONLY coach with a winning record against Bobby. The average scores of each team during the rivalry differed by two points.
He stated that it was the biggest and best rivalry ever and will never be matched or beaten.
It was a great trip down memory lane. My son and I used to go to the games and sell programs for the Breakfast Optomist club then go inside and find empty seats and watch the game. It was great memories for us.
Their rivalry deserves its own movie going game by game and player by player....or a book.

Nice story Tom.

But I'd put Philly's Big 5 rivalries up there with anyone's, Especially Villanova & St. Joes.
I think Nova may play the Boilers again this season in the Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas over Thanksgiving.
If so, another loss for your team, no doubt.

We'll see. I expect them to be fairly good this year.
