still dealing with barking dogs..

Talking with a friend about neighbor's louder than hell canine cannon dogs who never stop barking. He asked me if the fence between us belonged to me. Since it is my fence, he suggested I simply take the fence down. He believes taking down the fence would force the neighbors to build a better sturdier fence.

He then suggested I prance around my backyard in a speedo swimsuit which would further motivate the neighbors to put up a fence.

Cool! Last thread had some advice that you didn't take either, let's do it all again. Sounds like your friend would fit in here.

I like dogs, mostly, but oh man, dogs and modern life. I was a client's house a while back. Lovely setting, there's a big ravine behind the houses on her side of the street, makes her back yard look like it borders on wilderness.

This particular evening I could hear what had to be a large dog barking non stop, and loudly, some distance on the other side of the ravine. Holy crap, it was loud enough where I was, I would hate to live next to that.

Based on your description of the dogs in your previous thread, I'd imagine taking the fence down will have them ripping up your back yard and pissing all over the place. When the police come, you'll be cited for antagonizing the neighbors. Some friend you have there...

Just spoke with the neighbors today; expressed my desire to replace the fence with a new one. They concurred saying they were planning on obtaining anti-bark shock collars for the dogs. They also said they were concerned their dogs might actually bust through the fence and into my yard.

My goal is to sell the place and MOVE. I can't have guests over for backyard BBQ cookouts because the moment we start a conversation we are drowned out by the next door 300 decibel canine cannons.

The people behind them have small children who enjoy playing in their back yard; they also have an old worn out fence. I know if those three large dogs ever break through their fence there is a good chance they will attack those children. To a wolf pack, anything that moves is seen as prey......

You should visit a dog park. Might learn something about dogs.

There are dogs, and then there are dogs.

A buddy of mine's father used to have a bullmastiff. Bigger than any I'd seen of those. Combined height and weight, one of the biggest dogs I ever saw. They'd invite me to their house now and then - he had three sisters, I think their mother was trying to get me interested in one of them. This dog would knock over lamps with his tail. He was generally mellow but now and then would get a thing where he'd do that low growl and look menacingly at me. I'm generally pretty composed around dogs but this one had a way of inspiring terror.

Yes, a solo lone German Sherpherd may be super friendly by itself. Place the dog with three or more other Shepherds and the wolf pack dynamic sets up. Rabbits, squirrels, small children, even deer or caribou can become a target.

Remember dogs are DIRECT descendants of the wolf. Wolves are fairly easy to deal with one on one. OTH,. get the pack going and WATCH OUT, they can take down a grizzly bear.

There is the american version of german sherpherd, bred for dogs shows with sloping spines/hips which ultimately go bad. Many an american bred shepherd has been put to sleep over it.

Then you have German German Shepherds, cost to import $30K to $50K. For your money, you get one hell of a security dog......

Understood, but Husky is trying to give the impression that when multiple dogs are in close proximity to each other, they turn into some deranged killing pack and that is simply not true. I take my dog to the dog park all the time and I have yet to see any type of pack mentality whether it be from siblings or individual dogs.

My dog sees any trouble and she immediately turns and goes the other direction. Every now and then there will be some growling and that usually has to do with someone taking someone elses toy.
