movie reviews

now that we have an empty nest we watch a lot of dvds at home. here are some recent ones with mho.

"rocky balboa"....sucks

"blades of glory"....silly. after going to the movies to see this one on the way to the car i told my mrs not to let me watch any more will ferrell movies. so the next day....NEXT DAY!... mind you, she brought home another one (i have got to provide adult supervision on movie selection)...

"stranger than fiction"...another will ferrell movie....boooo!

and tonight ...."happy feet"... an animated movie about a dancing penguin...see, i am here instead of watching it with her.

"the prestiege".... boooo! it had scarlet johannson and she kept all her clothes on! i picked this one.....

otoh i watched "grand prix" again the other night when she was not home and loved it agian and i was fixing to watch "lemans" again....but she came home. i am going to bring home "bullitt" soon.

We just say Blades of glory. Yea it was stupid and twisted. The most interesting part was the cameo appearances of famous but forgotten Olympic ex-skaters. It took us almost an hour to remember Scott's last name. Also surprising what passes for PG-13 these days.

gotta agree on the 86 anything with W. Ferrell. He is nausiating.

Anytime I see him in on tv or a movie all I want to do is punch his lights out for acting like such a prick....

I liked CLERKS II - but it is a little dirty....

I'd have to say that the best movie I have seen all year is The Departed. That was definitely one of Martin Scorcese's best films.

I also enjoyed Woddy Allens's last film, Scoop. Aside from the fact that he played a neurotic Jewish man from New York, I thought it was very original.

cool woody allen joke is ;

he used to have an uncle who had one of those stands in Coney Island where you pay 25c to throw 3 balls at a stack of milk bottles to try to knock them all down & win a big prize....

One day there was a big tidal wave that came in & leveled all the rides - and buildings all around.

The only thing left standing was his uncle's milk bottles............

Take the grandkids to see a lot of movies and have been pretty dissappointed lately. Bridge to Terebithia and The Last Mimzy were both pretty bad IMHO. You still have a hard time beating the Pixar stuff for the kids, and of course Babe is still one of my favorites, along with The Princess Bride.

i have been boycotting woody allen ever since he married his step daughter as soon as she turned legal (after presumably having sex with her for a good while).

I am waithing to get The Good Shepherd. Any reviews on that.

I thought the Departed was O.K., but not great. I thought it fell apart a little towards the end. Little Miss Sunshine was very entertaining.

The Departed? Was that a movie about cell phones?

Not too great, except for Leo's acting. Story line dragged, the violence seemed somewhat "edited" and the thing just didn't flow. Nothing in comparison to Casino or any other of his mobster movies.

I've read that Little Miss Sunshine is worth seeing and a quirky little flick, something to rent on rainy, cold spring day.
