Family reunion location between TX and NorCal

Relatives are planning a family reunion for next Christmas. Something a day’s drive from TX and NorCal, a cabin or retreat house for up to 25, potential for a white Christmas, proximity to skiing or snowboarding for the young uns... Suggestions?

Prescott's pretty iffy for snow, might consider Sunrise Resort. Alpine/ Hannagan Meadows areas are nice for snow and scenery, not sure about downhill skiing and snow boarding.

Salt Lake City has some decent ski spots.

Ruidoso, N.M. is another consideration.

Texas is a pretty big state. It makes a big difference when deciding on a midpoint.

Santa Fe, NM. Lots to do, great skiing at SF and Taos, interesting food. Unexpectedly Dr. Google says it is the same driving time from SF as the front range of the Rockies (Vail, Breckenridge, etc. - seem like they should be halfway between the two cities). I think it's a lot more interstate diving through less snow.

Second choice - Steamboat Springs, CO. Primarily a ski town, but its large enough for interesting lodging, dining, and shoppining type entertainment too. Huge mountain, but gentle - double black daredevils will find it a bit dull. American runs nonstop flights from DFW to the local airport - used to be a 757, but haven't been on it for a few years.
