Wish I had seen this earlier-I have spent quite a bit of time around Carmel/Monterey-it's one of my favorite places-Pacific Grove actually. Tor house in Carmel is really cool. I'm sure you did not have time to do everything. San Francisco is usually referred to as "The City" by locals. The corporate offices of my former employer of 31 years are there so I spent a bit of time in and out of the area. I don't miss the 5 hr Friday evening commute home.

There were also some other cool cars, a tyhpe 57 Bugatti, sweet! ...a chopped roof customization of a 39 Lincoln Zepher and a really sweet 65 Chebby two door hardtop with a 396 engine.

Then we headed into San Fran and the Mrs. did a little shopping, and we wet to bed early as our wakeup call was for 515 am. The clock was wring in our room so I woke up at 410 and couldn't go back to sleep.

Our cabbie was channeling Don Gartlits on every green light and Mario Andretti on every corner. He was Russian born and has been in the country for 30 years and has a $600K condo with a view of the bay. He appears to be in his sixties.

We flew Alaska air and had direct flights there and back thanks to booking on a Saturday.
I always travel with these:

The best earplugs for sleeping that I've found. Not sure how easy it is to get them retail.

San Francisco cabbies used to make good money. I gather Uber has really cut into it.

The second one we used said he had a 600K condo but also said he had a jewelry store. Russian born, here 30 years.
