He or she married the cop, thats their problem if they do not remove themselves from the situation, like so many abused people fail to do.

My great grandfather abused his wife and his children. He would take the children out to the horse corral, strip them naked and beat them using a horse whip. Grandma finally had enough so she packed up the wagon one night and moved two states over. The SOB tracked her down and drug her and the children back home.

Patiently, she saved up her money then one night around 2:00 AM she left him. This time she had a plan, she took the children, changed her name, changed her hair color, changed everything. Three years later the SOB tracked her down and BEGGED her to return home.

She refused.

Here's the problem; most people assume a woman married to an abuser can simply walk out the front door any time they feel like it. Many many cases where the abuser tracked their wives down five states over, drug them back to the house and continued the abuse. This is why there are so many women in prison; one day they finally snapped and shot and killed the SOB dead. They should receive a gold medal, instead our sick, screwed up system puts them in prison.
