Lets try some basic math. The Voyager space craft was launched over 40 years ago. Currently it has traveled about 13 billion miles from earth. Granted it did not fly in a straight line but you can kind of get the point. It takes a while to travel 13 billion miles.
Now look at Alpha Centauri. It is the closest star to our solar system. Its about 4 light years away form earth. That translates into about 25,000,000,000,000 miles. That is over 19,000 times farther away from earth than the Voyager is now. According to deGrasse Tyson, with current technology would take 70,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri.
As indicated in the picture in my OP, our galaxy is 125,000 light years across and I am not even going to attempt to figure out how many miles that is.
Now back to the OP, the planets discovered are 3.0 billion light years away. The reason we will never see them much less Alpha Centauri with profits or anything else. It has to do that we do not even have the scientific ability to travel out side of our solar system yet. In celestial time, we are still laying on our back trying to figure out how to roll over so we can crawl.
