Monster Miatas

There's a company in Calif. that installs Mustang V8's in Miatas. Sounds like alot of fun. You supply them with the Miata and they do the conversion for $17,000. Or you can purchase their kit and DIY. Anyone have any experience with these.

5.0L V8 + Miata = Sub-5 0-60 time!!! Those things are fast, and with already fun to drive Miata, it's a killer combo, IMO!! Power is exactly what Miata has been lacking for years....

If you already own a Miata(early model with flip-up headlights), make it into a Monster Miata would just make the car much more fun to drive!!

can we say front heavy though?

Unless the stang engine allows for a good front to rear weight ratio, you can't just slap in the engine, you have to probably do some serious suspension work as well.

But for a small, fast car, yeah it would be fun.

Me I'd rather take a mini cooper, and drop in a nice fast 6 cylynder engine. Nwo that would be fun.

The Mini Cooper S would be nice. but I hate little cars I can almost touch the ground out of my friends Miata. I didn't like how it drove either to light even with me in it.

monster motorsports?

Monster motorsports? they own Laforza in california. I have only bought parts from Laforza before and they are helpful but somewhat disorganized.

Years before anyone thought to do this on the Miata, there were V8 upgrade kits for MGB's. Some even managed to shoehorn a Chevy 454 in...

I had a '68 MGB, black with red leather, threw a rod in it. Did'nt British Leyland offer a V8 in the MGB-GT? A Rover engine I think it was.
I'm going to start looking for a '90 or '91 Miata just for fun. Would you need specialty car insurance on a V8 Miata? I can imagine my State Farm agent asking, "a WHAT Miata"?

don't think the v8 ever made it to these shores. the aluminum buick v8 was ideal because it didn't weigh much more than the original BMC lump they had in there. it would be interesting to have a V8 miata and a V8 MGB face off...
