Well I got myself a basic Ranger. 2011 4 cylinder manual. Dog is right, the thing can't get out of its own way. Pictures after I clean the foot of snow off the dam thing.

yes everyone in the us is a power pig,and burns fuel like it will be here forever. Motorhomes doing 90 mph, pulling boats,Motorcycles getting less than 40 mpg,why ride a bike then? Rest of the world gets by on 90cc or less.

My old Ducati 848 got about the same fuel mileage as my CDI. My only regret with that one was having to sell it!

Kuan, got more details?

Nice! Great solid, basic DIY (and extremely reliable with that combo) trucks. The 4.0 isn't much faster, just torquier so you're not missing out at all.

Post Smaller Pickups

I prefer American made short bed 1/2 tonners but I've had good results with the early Ford Courrier, various Toyotas old and new, I liked the Datsun 620's apart from the one owner, long bed 1978 one my brother bought under my name at an auction once ~ it was cramped (I have 32" legs and so was surprised) and endless weird troubles .

My ex Father in Law bought a Dodge / Mitsubishi mashup, it must have been assembled from junkyard parts as nothing matched the parts books for Dodge nor Mitsu. of that year, it ran well in spite of everything .

I'm sort of looking for a cheap old beater typ 4 or 6 cylinder pickup now, one big job and I'll sell it along .

Not all Americans are suckers for big stupid trucks .

Those of us who grew up actually working with and on real trucks love the standard 1/2 ton rigs but they don't sell and so are pretty much all gone now or hobby rigs .

I'll go a different direction here. I have had the following, either personally or driven for work:

1990 Chevy Cheyenne - 5.7l, auto - Plenty of power, dependable, basic truck. Full sized but a short bed so it was a pretty small full sized truck.
1994 Ford Ranger - 2.3l, 5 speed - Gutless, mediocre fuel economy, terrible winter traction. Great riding/handling.
2000 Ford F-250 - 7.3l diesel, 6 speed. A beast, huge, hard to park, powerful, great riding, reliable. Did I say huge?
2004 Ford Ranger - 2.3l, auto. Everything the 1994 was but a little less gutless and the transmission crapped out.
2007 Chevy Colorado - 2.9l, 5 speed auto. I didn't think much of this truck when I first got it as a work truck but it has really grown on me. It's zippy, the 2.9l 4 cylinder really makes good power when it's revved up and it's smooth. Auto trans is smooth as well. The truck is extended cab and the loading height is very low - a plus! I have driven it in all weather and traction is not awful for a rear drive truck. It's also smaller than the current Colorado which looks HUGE in comparison. My Colorado is a great, no worries, jump-in-and-run-to-the-store kind of truck that simply requires regular oil changes and keeps rolling along.

Edit - Sorry, I just realized you've already bought a truck!
