To Complain or not .... ??????

I have a home warranty and I called them out for a pool service. The time on the pool is not working and I do not know jack about electrical.

Got a text that the tech would be there between 440 and 540. Tech did not show up till after 7p. I sent him home. I had changed already and I was just sitting down to eat dinner.

He said the decision to put me at the end of the route was his and he did that because he lives in the area and wanted to save gas. No phone call, no text nothing to tell me he would be late. He said that usually it is not an issue because most folks are not home and he just lets him self in the yard to do the work.

I am not most people. No one comes on my property with out me being there. I like to keep an eye on them because I want to see whats being done and I like to learn if I can about whats being done.

I do not like my time wasted. If you are going to be late, freaking let me know. Not a big deal. I'll work around it in most cases. I get why he did it and that makes sense but you need to let people know.

The more I think about it I think I'll let it slide. I do not want him to get in trouble for this. I let him know why I was sending him home.

Good call. I'd give him another chance to show you his stuff. I probably would have let him work on it at 7 pm too. Good people are hard to find. If they are good it is worth it to me to be fluid in many of my desires.

An hour after the time window is pretty amazing. Usually its 3 or 4 hours and no call.

I wouldnt bother complaining.

I figured this one out a long time ago. Simply send them a letter telling them you no longer need their services. Find someone who appreciates your business.

This. Your current provider will continue to abuse you until you call it quits.

It is no wonder that you get screwed over all the time. I try and tell my brother that the reason he gets the short end of a short stick is because he is a ass to people. He never listens and he continues to get screwed. I laugh every time I hear a new story of him getting screwed. Me, I get free stuff and favors because I am nice to people.

This reminds me, I need to call them and re skd the appt.

Yes, by all means reschedule the appointment. That way they can waste another six to eight hours of your life.

" ..... because I am nice to people."

Except for us.

Awww. :)

You and I have had many civil discussions as I recall. I'll call you out when I think you are wrong but I do not recall being rude to you.

I had a furnace service guy that lived a few blocks away and we were alway scheduled late in the day because of this. He showed way late once, I gave him my cell number and asked him to call me if that was going to be the case.
A few years layer we ran out of oil in a cold snap, and he came at 3 am in 18" of unplowed snow to fill the tank and bleed the system. I got a bill for the oil, but not emergency service.

No kidding.

Ive done the same and topped it off with 5 gallon increments of diesel from the only 24 hr gas station in the area. No one is showing up at 3am with a oil truck around here.

At OP, piss off the only person that can help you and they won't. I'd have let him fix the problem so it was finished and off my plate. May have also offered him some food and asked him to call the next time he was going to be late. Those guys work on commission but aren't exactly high end sales people. You still need the work done and still don't have a relationship with someone that can take care of it. It pretty much looks like you wasted your time and didn't gain anything.

I don't kiss a** for any reason. If they can't or are unwilling to provide at least average customer service I will either:

a. do without
b. acquire the necessary knowledge, parts and skill from various youtube videos, training books, etc to DO THE FRIGGIN' JOB MYSELF.

I usually opt for B unless I am really short on time.

This is a pool repair, not curing Cancer. Pool repair companies are a dime a dozen.

As for the time, not really an issue. I was home anyway. He said he would be there between certain times and failed to do so. No notification or anything.

The issue is a secondary timer. Not critical. I just manually turn on the booster pump when I want it on and that's it. The primary filtration pump timer works fine. I could go all season with out the secondary working.

I called on Monday and left two messages to reschedule. They never called back. The Home warranty company assigned me to a different contractor. He called yesterday and said he would be out late tonight. Got a call from him earlier and I described the problem to him. He called back later and told me he would have the part tomorrow and assuming weather permits he will call me when he is on his way to install it.

Seems like a win win to me.

davidmash 04-26-2018 02:48 PM

Turned out better than expected. The guy who came today has owned the business for over 30 years. He ordered the correct part just off what I described to him over the phone. Installed it in about 10 min. While he was there I asked him to give me an estimate on some tile work and also to update the lights.

Definitely adding him to my call list. Very glad I told the first guy to pound sand. Good decision on my part.
