Market for death rims?

Looking at starting a business gold plating car and truck wheels AKA "death rims". I don't see many cars or trucks with them; do you think there is a market?

Why are they called death rims, and what metals can be plated? You thinking elecrodeposition or hammering?

Apparently because they are the target of carjackers:

Pricey Wheels Can Be a Dangerous Obsession - latimes

Plating can cause hydrogen embrittlement. And plating shops have to conform to tough environmental regs. So know what you're doing.

I would imagine there are a few wheels associated with Mercedes Benz that would qualify; Lorinser wheels, Eckler Mercedes Benz chrome wheel exchange, etc. I remember seeing an 1980s series SL awhile back with some very sharp looking wire wheels.

I doubt that many today would kill for a set of chrome-plated 14" bundts.

You would be surprised what they will kill over. You look at their girl friend wrong, they see the bank teller give you a hundred bux at the bank window, a co-worker thinks they should have gotten the promotion you got, etc etc.

People are bat sh** CRAZY!!!
