painting exterior of home

Has anyone rented,or used a powered roller for painting one story home?
Our house is high enough at peak for a attitic room, but I can't do ladders.

If you go that route, buy or rent a pro-quality machine. Don't waste your time, effort, or money with anything "consumer" oriented, you'll regret it.

Powered rollers are meant to do a large area quickly. If you're not up to doing a lot of work in a short period of time, stick with the standard roller or a sprayer. The cleanup and setup process of the powered roller can easily take longer than the painting process itself!

If you stick with a standard roller, buy a microfiber roller cover. Yes, they're about 4x the cost of a standard wool or synthetic roller, but they cover so much better, hold so much more paint, and will let you go nearly as fast as the powered roller will. When I repainted my house I discovered those covers. A 5/16" nap let me paint a 20 x 20 room in under 30 minutes, and that was 2 coats (I live in a really dry climate!)

As stated, power rollers take a lot of time to clean, not something to do twice. Consider using 18" rollers on an extenable pole instead of 9" rollers and a ladder.

I painted a house of mine a year or so ago and it was 16 feet at the highest point.

I used an extension pole and it worked great. Yeah, I got some paint on myself, so wear something you can throw away.

It was slow but it was cheap. And it did the job.
