Bought 98 Mazda work truck
 

It is showing 11,000 miles. Great shiny body and interior, but some rust on the frame and running gear. original tires looking excellent, apparently kept inside. It has all the service records.....a new battery three years ago and a few oil changes.;) It has aluminum wheels too, a bed cover and a bed liner.

My brother came over and helped me get it off the trailer. Then we took a long ride. He loves it.

Rebadged "Ferd" Ranger if small PU style. Check leaf spring shackles for rust. Good luck with it.

Agreed on the shackles, which are a massive PITA to replace...currently I have one new one and a stuck old one in mine...hoptfuly off the jackstands soon.

I'll have a look at the shackles. I am thinking of having it ziebarted.

Just fluid film it. Personally i find zeibart to be an enormous waste of money, plus you are drilling dozens of holes through factory sealed sheet metal and creating greater chance for future rust.

New tires and brake hoses would be a prudent investment...

A lot of them where sold in their day. The ford ranger is to go back into production my son in law mentioned. We were out just today in his ranger picking up some things.

He has the larger engine. I believe a 4 liter he mentioned. With a manual transmission. I forget the year his is but they had three engine options that year. Overall surprisingly he has had little trouble with it. Now at 120k miles. Stretch cab version with a reasonable ride I find.

My barber mentioned that one of his customers has an old pickup he keeps in climate controlled storage. Takes it out for a small amount of time each year. Apparently it has very low kilometers. I assume if the guy quoted in kilometers it is newer than the mid seventies. That is about when Canada converted the speedometers. The guy is even older than me my barber mentioned and it might be for sale. I do not know what it is other than old. What brand or model it is Etc. I did ask the barber if he would ask him if it is for sale and give me a phone call if it is. I might want to have a look at it.

My barber is always looking for things. Sometimes I find them for him and he pays me in haircuts. He wanted a pair of tires last time. That I had kept from a previous car I remembered. When he mentioned the size. They are also on rims that will fit his car. Now we just have to barter on the number of haircuts.

He is an impatient fellow as he wanted to know how many haircuts I wanted for them right there and then. I told him that depended on what condition they were in and their age. I do not keep worn tires but until I have a look at them I do not know. Even if they are snow or all season tires. All I was certain of is they are on alloy rims and will fit his car.

I had a 82 b2000,92 b2200,and a 94 b2300. Towed with the 94,a popup. However my 82 put over 200,000 miles for business,good truck no problems and a timing chain. I heard the b3000 is the best,cast iron block. Newer models used atf in the manual trans,which causes bearings to poop out sooner.

I believe it has the 2.4 four cylinder. Automatic. It has a hitch and plug receptical for a four wire trailer pictail.

might be the 2.5,very good engine,its really based on the capri 2300cc,very long lasting motor,just monitor t. belt.gas mileage is good too.

Some of the paper calls it a B2000 but the tag on the fender says B2500. I suppose that makes it the 2.5.

Rest of the world got the 2.5 turbo diesel Rangers,and mazda's.*4s had a b2200 diesel here,I saw one. Saw mustang's in germany with the ford 2.5 diesels racing,they were tuned up.

Nice! The 2.5 is a bored out Lima engine I believe. Pretty torquey for a 4cyl.
